Catch Chola masala ( literally 'mix-spiced small-chickpeas'), also known as channay, chole masala, chole or chholay (plural), is a dish originating from the Indian subcontinent. The main ingredient is a variety of chickpea called chana (???) or kala chana ('black chana'). They are twice the diameter of typical chickpeas with a stronger flavour and firmer texture even after being cooked. The combination of black salt, garam masala, and dry mango powder enhance the taste of the Chola masala. The Punjabi Chola Masala most often makes a complete meal, along with a Puri or Batura and some tomato, cucumber and onion sliced salad. Most homes make their own version of the chole masala. After all, it is famous not only in India but across the globe. Chana Masala is a delectable North Indian (Punjabi) curry of chickpeas or kabuli chana cooked in onion, tomato and basic spices gravy
